How to change default icons on windows?

1. To make your life easier first find the icons that you like to use, keep that file on your desktop. You can download folder icons on the web as well.
2. On the desktop choose a folder that you like to change the view.
3. Click to highlight the icon of the folder whose picture you would like to change.
4. Right click the folder and select Properties, and then click the Customize Tab.
5. Click on the Choose Picture button in the Folder pictures area of the Properties Window.
6. Windows will now prompt you to select a picture to use. Navigate to the picture, and then click Open. This will show new image on the folder.

Step by step example

1. I downloaded free TR desktop icons from a website ( http://www.nurweb.biz/?p=1324 )

After I unzip the file, it looked like this.

2. I choose a folder on my desktop

3. Right click on the folder

4. Then click on customize button

5. I select the image that I want to use on the folder as my new icon

6. Do not click on that button unless you want every folder look like this new image

7. Click on browse button

8. Choose your new image

9. Click to apply, now look at your desktop

Your folder has new look!
