Fruity kadayif Recipe

1 Package kadayif ( 16 oz )
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 lemon juice
1 package pitted baking dates (I used Pitted Baking Dates Ziyad,  13oz / 375g)
1/2 cup raisin

For Syrup:
4 cups milk
2  cups water
2 tbsp corn starch
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1 + 1/2 cups Powdered sugar

On top of Kadayıf:
1/4 cup pistachio
1 tbsp caraway seeds
All these for decoration you may use any of others like walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts…


How to make it?
Use shredded kadayıf dough, defrosted the package over night, before making this dessert.
In a deep pot flake the kadayıf into small pieces. Pour oil all over, sprinkle lemon juice. Place pitted dates and raisins inside the kadayif.
Put shredded kadayıf into a greased glass tray and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, about 40 minutes.

Prepare Milky Syrup:
In deep saucepan over medium heat, heat the milk. In a bowl, combine sugar, water, cornstarch and vanilla extract. Pour into warm milk, a little at a time, stirring to dissolve. Continue to cook and stir until mixture thickens. Do not boil. let is cool off little bit aside.
When kadayif is still warm, pour the syrup all over. Wait at least 2 hours before serving. Let syrup absorb into THE kadayif.
