How to Add an Admin User to the WordPress Blog

If you own a WordPress blog and you like to add new user to your blog you have 5 category to choose from. You can add anybody as subscriber. Or you can give the user more privileges. As a site owner you may also define somebody ; such as your work partner as admin, therefore that person can do any update on the site including changing themes, adding plug-ins.

To do so go to your Dashboard, click Users, and then add a new user with the administrator role.

Be aware an administrator user will be able to change, delete and update all the content as well as WordPress themes. You should not assign anybody for an admin.You need to trust the person to be admin to your WordPress blog website.

Do not forget you should always use a strong password especially if you are the admin, in order to prevent site hacking.
A strong password should be at least seven characters long. To make it stronger, use upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols like ! ” ? $ % ^ & ).
Please remember usernames cannot be changed. So choose carefully.

WordPress Roles are:

Subscriber: Read published posts and pages

Contributor: Subscriber capabilities contribute a post (for review by editor), and edit it before publication

Author: All Contributor capabilities contribute a post, publish/unpublish/edit it, and moderate its comments

Editor: All Author capabilities contribute/publish/unpublish/edit any user’s post contribute or edit any page manage all categories and moderate any comment read posts and pages which are marked “private”

Administrator: All Editor capabilities define users and assign them roles configure all site options
