How to Create Thumbnails with IrfanView?
Open an image in the viewer from a directory of your choice. Click the File menu and select Thumbnails, or press the letter T on your keyboard. A dialog box (see above) will open, and will fill with thumbnails representing the images in the directory.
These thumbnails are for quick access to the images in your directory. If you want to make them into thumbnails, use the Batch Conversion option on the Save menu. Use the advanced options to set the size of the images to 80 x 80, or whatever size you would like the thumbnails. Be sure and set the output directory to be different from where the originals are stored.
Thumbnail size: click one of the option buttons to set a size for the thumbnails. The default size is 80 pixels by 80 pixels.
When done making your choices, click the OK button to exit the dialog. You can also exit by clicking the X button in the upper right corner of the dialog. If the titlebar of the dialog is blue (not grey,) another way to exit is to press the ESC key. Press
the Cancel button to exit without making any changes.
How to Create a Photo Gallery
IrfanView is an image editor that allows you to create a photo gallery for free.
Prepare your photos for the web. (Scan, upload to PC from digital camera, etc.)
Save the photos you want to include in the gallery in a folder on your hard drive. You may want to create a separate folder for this.
Press T on the keyboard to launch the thumbnail window.
In the thumbnail screen, go to Options > Set Thumbnail Options.
Under Thumbnail quality, select the Use Resample box.
Under Thumbnail size, choose the desired size for the thumbnail images that IrfanView will generate. 80×80 or 100×100 is a good size to use.
Click OK to exit the Thumbnail options.
In the left pane of the Thumbnails window, navigate to the folder where you placed your photos and wait for IrfanView to generate the thumbnails. It only takes a few seconds.
Arrange the size of the thumbnail window to reflect how you want your Web page thumbnails arranged.
Go to Options > Select all.
Go to File > Save selected thumbs as HTML file. A browse window will appear. Navigate to the destination folder you selected in Step 3 and click OK.
After you’ve created your photo gallery, you still need to find a web hosting provider and upload (save) the HTML files and images so your gallery can be viewable on the web.
