Do you have old MC Macro Rokkor 100mm f3.5? If so, you can use with your new Sony Alpha.

Rokkor Macro lens is very good quality lens. I wanted to use with my SLR Sony Alpha. The problem was camera mouth was different.

MC Macro Rokkor’s the closest focusing distance in 21cm. It goes down to the 1:1 magnification with its life-size adapter. The adapter is longer (50mm) and it has a tripod screw for better balance. If you do not care for auto focusing option, which I did not need for product close up and macro photography, it works perfect. I prefer manual focusing for product photography anyway.

Here is how to hack Minolta Macro Lens for Sony Alpha and what pieces need:

  • T-mount for Sony Alpha Camera, you can buy from Camera World, Shutterbug or Ebay about $15
  • MC Macro Rokkor 100mm f3.5, you can buy from ebay or big camera stores here is the list check it out
  • MC Macro Rokkor lens tube
  • Super Glue

Tube has some little screws in the front take them off, also get rid of the adjustment ring, you will not need it to for manual focusing. The aim here to make tube and T mount adapter’s surface flat, so it can glue each other without any gap.

Make sure wait 10 minutes at least, to dry the glue completely before using. Then put the lens on the camera. Come close to the object and manually focus. Try to take some photos and adjust your light. Well, you will not be able to take photos, because Alpha’s screen will give you error message ” no lens attached”. No panic!

Make sure your camera is on manual mode, not push menu button, choose custom there; set it to [off: no lesn].

That will allow to use your macro lens.

Have a wonderful macro adventures with your great lens!
