I saw a man who was picking linden flowers. He was wondering if he could capture the aromatic smell of those flower. I suggest him to make sachet. It is actually fairly simple to make sachet. All you need a piece of thin linen fabric, or thin cotton, even a cheese cloth will work fine. If you do not want to bother with creating sachet bag, you can always purchase from a Dollar Tree store or eBay a small muslin/organza Sachet Gift Bag/Pouch. It will work fine. Just air dry the linden tree flowers, keep it in the bag; it will scent your drawers or clothes cabinets..

You may also dry the linden flowers and small leaves to make linden tea. To make a herbal linden tea put 2-3 teaspoon of dried linden flowers per cup into the teapot. If you want weaker taste use one teaspoon. Add the boiling water into the teapot over the linden flowers and put the lid on the teapot. Let it steep the linden tea in the tea pot for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure the teapot lid is covered.
Do not boil the linden tea on the stove, it makes bitter taste. You may add a teaspoon honey or sugar to make sweeter taste. You can also add slice of a lemon. Then use a tea strainer over a tea cup, and pour the tea through the strainer into the cup. Linden tea is used in many countries including Turkey against colds, headaches and to calm the nervous system.

In Oregon you can find Linden trees in many parks:
Mt. Tabor Park
Peninsula Park
Sellwood Park
Oaks Bottom wetlands
European linden trees in Wilsonville
Southern Oregon, Medford’s Hawthorne Park

A few tips for preserving:
Always dry herbs (including linden tree flowers ) in the shade (outdoors) or in a dark place (indoors).
Vegetables can be sun dried, such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants.
You may store dried plants in glass jars, in muslin fabric bags, or sometimes in a cardboard box, away from light. Herbs and other plants (such as sun dried tomatoes, eggplants, peppers) can also be hung in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Pick vegetables or herbs in the morning, when it is dry and (choose a sunny day) they are at their peak. So very early morning is the best time to pick linden flowers.
You should pick linden tree flowers when they’re fully open and at their most fragrant. Do not forget a successful drying depends on heat, air dryness and air circulation. Always select vegetables, herbs, fruits to be dried at peak flavor and quality.
You may also refrigerate the blooms of linden tree in plastic bags for up to several days.
